This year's International Peace Poster Competition sponsored world wide by Lions Clubs International was disrupted by COVID and the format had to be adjusted. It was just too difficult to get the learners we work with in challenging conditions to complete the art works as required. Tokai Lions Club stepped up and sponsored our local competition. After weeks of art lessons and plenty of extra after hours' work the winners were selected. These two young learners were delighted to receive their certificates and art pack prizes from Christiane Beretta Savoia. Thanks to Tokai Lions Club for sponsoring the Peace Poster Competition with the theme "We are All Connected".

Our Tokai Lions were out on the road this week delivering baby care packs to maternity units across Cape Town. Under our Naked Baby Project, we pack and distribute baby packs for mothers in need, who go into hospital without the essential new baby pack for their little one. Packs were distributed to Vanguard Maternity, False Bay, and Retreat Maternity Unit. Thank you to all our Lions for assisting with delivery.

Yesterday the Tokai Lions met to pack 25 Christmas goodie bags for seniors at Village Care in Lavender Hill, and make Christmas crackers for children and seniors. We made a total of 284 Christmas Crackers, 148 Childrens and 136 Seniors. Lots of fun, with lots of helpers. If anyone would like toilet roll tubes, we have a fair amount left 😁

A huge thank you to Heart FM for two great features today on their Good News slot. Highlighting our Christmas Market on 11th December, but also telling listeners about Tokai Lions and its projects, plus the LCI pillars of service.

New Braai for Marsh Memorial - When Tokai Lions heard that Marsh Memorial Children's Home in Rondebosch were no longer able to use their braai for the children, we offered to go and rebuild it for them. We also delivered sanitary towels for the girls and peanut butter sachets. The day was also used as a training piece for the older children, Lion Charlie showing them about bricks, cement, supports, and how to lay bricks well. The children and the Lions (male and female alike) threw themselves into the challenge and helped to mix cement, clean bricks, carry materials etc. The Tokai Lions team were there to also provide a juicy burger for lunch, juice and fruit. Thanks to all our helpers, the children and to Lion Charlie and his team.
