Fundraising Events

In order to carry out the projects we do throughout the year, Tokai Lions has to either fundraise or receive donations. Regular fundraising events are very important to us, as they not only raise much needed funds for our projects, they also create awareness of who Tokai Lions are, and the projects we are involved in.

Two regular fundraising events we organise are our annual Potjie Competition, and a regular Quiz Night for local businesses.

We held our last Potjie Competition in November 2023 at our Tokai Lions Clubhouse, which was a huge success. Team battled over the fire cooking from 8am until judging at 1pm. On the lead up to the competition and on the day, we sell raffle tickets and hold a bumper raffle draw. The day is always great fun, and this year we have live music provided by the Paulis, which added a wonderful live music element to the day. We were also delighted to have top SA celebrity chef Jenny Morris as one of our judges on the day.

The idea behind our Quiz Night is local business supporting local communities. We get teams from local businesses to compete for great prizes, and again hold a bumper raffle on the night. Our last Quiz Night saw a full house with eight teams of eight competing. The questions range from easy to hard, and cover a great range of topics including popular music, science, nature, food, etc. We sell the tickets for the Quiz Night to include a light supper, and it is generally held on a Thursday night from 6.30pm to approx 9.30pm. We have regular local businesses who come and support us at every Quiz Night, and assist us in raising funds for our projects throughout the year.

All our fundraising events and raffles are only possible, not only from local companies participating in the event, but also thanks to the generosity of local establishments, organisations, and individuals who regularly donate fantastic prizes. We are always extremely grateful for the support.
