Each year Tokai Lions organise a wonderful Christmas Party for disadvantaged children from various organisations, and for children who would not normally get to attend a Christmas Party. 2023 saw the party being bigger and better than every, thanks to a collaboration with Safripol. 75 children from Marsh Memorial Children’s Home, Miracle Kidz Safe Home, Amazing Grace Upliftment Centre and Jabula Informal Settlement joined this wonderful day of fun. There were magicians, face painting, games, cupcakes, popcorn, lots of Christmas treats, a nail bar, dancing, a Marimba Band and food and ice cream for all. The final very special treat is a visit from Father Christmas with a special personal present for each and every child. We do find the reindeer, however, get very tired in the South African heat, so Father Christmas often arrives by his second favourite choice of transport, motorbike. This is an event which is enjoyed by all Lions members just as much as the children.
The collaboration with Safripol meant the children all got beautiful upcycled toys, read more about their wonderful initiative here Safripol Share a Gift Share a Smile Campaign.
Thank you to Smile FM for broadcasting live at the evening, and for National TV programme Espresso who filmed the morning and broadcast the event on their morning TV show, see the video below.
